Millikin University, an NCAA Division III institution and member of the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin, is seeking an Athletic Trainer who is responsible for providing comprehensive sports medicine services to student-athletes, including injury prevention, evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation. The Athletic Trainer collaborates with coaches, physicians, and university staff to ensure safe participation in athletic programs. Sport assignment is flexible but preferably seeking a year-round football assignment (football in fall, women鈥檚 flag football and off-season football training in spring).
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Provide on-site athletic training services for assigned intercollegiate sports, including practices and competitions.
- Evaluate athletic injuries and develop appropriate treatment and rehabilitation plans.
- Administer first aid and emergency care to injured student-athletes.
- Implement injury prevention programs, including conditioning, taping, bracing, and education.
- Coordinate referrals to team physicians or other healthcare professionals as needed.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records in compliance with institutional and legal standards.
- Oversee and maintain athletic training facilities, supplies, and equipment.
- Assist with pre-participation physical examinations and medical screenings.
- Educate student-athletes on injury prevention, nutrition, and overall wellness.
- Ensure compliance with institutional policies as well as conference and governing body regulations
- Travel with teams as required.
- Supervise student workers, interns, or graduate assistants (if applicable).
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This position does not have supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization鈥檚 policies and applicable laws.

Minimum Education and/or Experience:
- Bachelor鈥檚 degree in Athletic Training or a related field; Master鈥檚 preferred. New graduates are encouraged to apply.
- Certification by the Board of Certification (BOC) for Athletic Trainers.
- Current state licensure (or eligibility for licensure) in Illinois.
- CPR/AED and First Aid certification.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, and travel as required.
- Previous experience in a collegiate or small university setting preferred.
- Experience working with multiple sports programs preferred.
- Familiarity with electronic medical record systems is preferred.

WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed in athletic training facilities, gymnasiums, and outdoor athletic fields. Exposure to varying weather conditions during outdoor events. Ability to travel with the team, either by vehicle or plane.
