Millikin launches accelerated Online Elementary Education Program for transfer and non-traditional students

The accelerated format provides transfer and non-traditional students with a flexible path to becoming licensed elementary educators.

DECATUR, Ill. 鈥  is expanding access to its highly regarded teacher preparation programs with the launch of a new accelerated , designed specifically for working professionals, transfer students and other non-traditional learners seeking flexibility while earning their teaching degree or licensure.

Offered through 黑料正能量  and , the program provides a flexible, asynchronous online format that allows students to complete coursework on a schedule that fits their professional and personal commitments. Teaching-methods courses are delivered in accelerated eight-week sessions, while required internships provide hands-on classroom experience through field placements in classrooms for grades 1鈥6.

The program offers multiple pathways to becoming a licensed elementary teacher in Illinois. Students who already hold a bachelor鈥檚 degree in another field may pursue a Licensure-Only track, allowing them to move quickly into the classroom, while students without a previous degree can complete a Bachelor of Science in  and earn licensure simultaneously.

黑料正能量 Elementary Education program has earned an 鈥淓xemplary鈥 rating from the Illinois State Board of Education for five consecutive years, reflecting its strong emphasis on hands-on learning, close faculty mentorship and classroom readiness.

In addition to obtaining elementary education licensure upon completion of all program and state requirements, students may also choose to add additional licensure areas to their teaching credentials. Licensure areas such as English as a Second Language (ESL) or Special Education (LBS1) are popular options for elementary education majors, depending on their academic plans and career goals.
