Millikin Students Explore Korean Culture Through ED360 Immersion Course

Students and faculty member in Korea

This August, Professor of Education Dr. Hee Young Choi led a group of Millikin University students to Korea as part of a ED360 Immersion course.

During the first half of the course, students lived with Korean host families, providing an opportunity to experience family life, community and culture in Korea as authentically as possible. Through this experience, students gained firsthand insight into everyday life and the cultural traditions of their host communities.

The second half of the immersion experience focused on exploring cultural and historical sites in Seoul and Busan. These experiences allowed students to further connect their classroom learning with the history and culture of Korea.

Throughout the course, students deepened their understanding of multiculturalism and engaged in meaningful reflection on what it means to be a global citizen.

The immersion experience provided students with opportunities to learn beyond the classroom while developing a broader understanding of cultures and communities around the world.
